Guinness Storehouse Photowalk with Pix.ie

Equipment envy! Camera envy to be precise (get your minds out of the gutter). Last week I was invited along to the Pixie photowalk of the Guinness Storehouse which thrilled me because it’s not often I get to go somewhere with the express purpose of taking photos. I know, I know, those of you who have been watching my Pixie account since the last time I mentioned it will be saying, “What? Does he do anything else but take photos when he goes out the door?” That’s really just random snapping though and I don’t put as much time into it as I’d like…

That said, I do an awful lot of random snapping and although my wife is very tolerant, I see her flinch every time we go somewhere and I bring the camera… Which is why I was delighted to get out with a bunch of people who would all be at least as focused on taking pics as I was! My first impression, as I walked out of the lift into the “Gravity” bar on the seventh floor was, “Wow! What a view!” My second thought was, “Wow, look at those cameras!” Yup, for the first time in years I was suffering camera envy! Still, I loved the tour and loved the place! There are so many great opportunities for photo taking that I don’t believe anyone could walk away from the place without at least one cool shot! The fact that we were there before the punters was also fantastic!

I tried to get clever with one or two pics and do something different (I’d been informed on arrival that Guinness and Pix.ie in fact have a competition running and all attendees could enter their pics through the Pixie website) that might make up for my other inadequacies (again, we’re talking camera here!) Mostly I just had fun though and enjoyed the experience!

I tried to be picky with what I uploaded but as usual I just ended up uploading anything that I was really happy with. There are a few shots I like that didn’t make the cut that I’ll put up in a seperate album later but for now go here and have a look and hopefully one or two of my efforts will make it here! I’m not really pushed about the competition to be honest, the craic, the tour and the breakfast were great so I’ve already got my jollies out of the event!
